Senior Compliance and Quality Engineer
In this role, you will work with a very senior engineering team and manufacturing operations in a public fast-growing collaborative robotics and controls company, to achieve safety, emissions, and environmental agency certifications for CAT3, CE, CSA, UL, RoHS, REACH, etc. requirements and work with customers in the safe application of our products.
Working with engineering on FMEA of product designs and safety controls.
Working with agencies developing and maintaining safety documentation and achieving product certifications, including safety and emissions testing at labs.
Review user documentation to ensure that required warnings, labels and symbols are properly documented as required by standards.
Lead and/or participate in compliance investigations, failure analysis of returned products, and issues resulting in a stop ship/stop production situation; document findings, provide reports and analysis; drive implementation of solutions to prevent recurrence of root causes.
Participate in Engineering Changes (ECO) and New Product Introduction (NPI).
Develop and maintain the QMS system.
Work with teams to develop and revise procedures that comply with ISO 9001:2015 QMS requirements while maintaining lean operations.
Ensure tooling and equipment is scheduled for calibration at defined intervals.
Maintain calibration records.
Respond to customer inquiries about certifications and work with them as necessary to ensure they know how to safely deploy our equipment.
Minimum BSEE with emphasis on controls. Prefer MSEE.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in compliance and QA with motion control systems.
Experience with CE (emissions testing), CSA/UL (electrical safety), EN 13849 (motion control safety), ISO 10218-1 (Robotic Safety), and certification of functional safety, a plus.
Proven ability to lead and achieve agency certifications.
Ability to understand digital control circuits and motor power drive circuits.
Flexible attitude and willingness to work with in-house and contract manufacturers and dive-in and solve customer problems when needed.
Comfortable with CAD tools and reading schematics and understanding electronic circuits.
Understanding of test instruments. Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 9002 a plus.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision on a wide range of projects.
Good interpersonal skills and track record of good performance with small teams.
Good communication skills, both oral and written.
Fremont and Livermore California, with operations in Livermore and engineering test in Fremont.
