Job Summary

Brooks is looking for a highly motivated self-starter to become a key member of our corporate accounting team. In this hands-on role, contribute to our business growth by driving efficiencies in systems and processes supporting timely comprehensive accurate revenue recognition and by performing revenue accounting and analysis. This position will be a key contributor to the corporate accounting team and will be instrumental to the monthly revenue close process and the financial reporting process.

Primary Responsibilities

Perform monthly and quarterly tasks related to revenue recognition including:

  • Review contracts and transactions to identify performance obligations
  • Generate and post revenue related journal entries and prepare deferred revenue and contract assets reconciliations
  • Perform pre-closing activities for the preparation of ASC 606 assessment of open performance obligation accounting
  • Prepare ASC 606 related schedules for disclosure and related management review
  • Work directly with business partners to identify, gather information, and provide timely revenue accounting guidance
  • Review and scope general practices and related data to recommend process improvements and precision reporting.
  • Validate completeness and accuracy of source data and related revenue cutoff, and other accounting variables
  • Perform and or review key SOX controls and maintain appropriate documentation
  • Assist with preparation of SSP analysis

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in technical accounting research and accounting conclusion documentation
  • Participate in SOX 404 efforts, including documentation of processes and facilitating testing of controls, as necessary
  • Participate in special projects or ad-hoc analysis in support of finance department and company initiatives


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required; Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
  • A minimum of 4 years of work experience, to include experience with revenue recognition accounting and applying ASC 606 standards
  • CPA or working towards their license, with a combination of public accounting and industry experience preferred
  • Ability to research, apply, and document applicable accounting guidance
  • Proven ability to initiate process change resulting in precision and gained efficiencies
  • Requires MS Excel skills at an advanced level; Oracle, HFM, SmartView is a plus
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills 
  • Self-starter/demonstrated success in a dynamic, fast-paced, and growing company
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Oracle, Tableau, Hyperion, and other data analytic software is a plus
