Brooks has an opportunity within our corporate organization for a Senior Import / Export Specialist. Ensures legal compliance and provides import/export administration and control within government rules and regulations, including appropriate licensing for shipments. Reviews contracts for required clauses and identifies omissions. Interfaces with internal and external customers, foreign order administration, freight forwarders, customs officers and other functional areas to ensure coordination and logistics of shipment.
Analyze and interpret export and import regulations and maintain current knowledge of changes.
Set policy and coordinate all activities involved in export / import regulatory compliance including, but not limited to, ECCN product classifications, harmonized tariff classifications, country of origin determination, product valuation reporting, export license applications, Automated Export System reporting, obtaining and reviewing end use statements for exports, and sanctioned party list screening.
Interface with internal / external customers, foreign subsidiaries, distributors, vendors, brokers and carriers to ensure compliance with all applicable import / export regulations.
Maintain internal controls program to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt and documentation of imported / exported products.
Review and clear / escalate denied party screen hits.
Determine product eligibility for multiple trade agreements.
Participate in continual improvement process related to Compliance Program and manage document revisions of internal controls and procedures.
Conduct periodic export and import self assessments (compliance audits) and implements any necessary corrective actions.
Interact with US Customs, Trade Authorities and present to Brooks Automation Senior Management on trade compliance matters.
Collaborate with procurement, financial, tax, product marketing, logistics, order entry, and engineering functions.
Develop and conduct trade compliance training.
Maintain and ensure the highest ethical standards.
Bachelors in Business, Logistics, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of Import / Export experience.
Expertise in US Customs regulations, US Export Administration Regulations and license requirements, to include SNAP-R submissions.
Expertise with international shipping documents such as commercial invoice, packing list, air waybill, and export license; including consignee information, INCOTERMS, harmonized tariff code and nomenclature, country of origin, customs value, export classification, and license data.
Advanced Excel skills and ability to interpret data.
Familiarity with ERP systems (preferably Oracle).
Customs Broker’s License.
Experience with Drawback Programs.
Strong working knowledge of international business practices, transportation laws, and customs requirements. Understanding of Customs Regulations in the EU and Asia.
Experience with internal and external audit processes.
Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
Possess excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to solve problems in a complex and dynamic environment.
Must be a team player and self starter; high bias toward action.
