Job Purpose:

The post holder is responsible for an established supply chain delivering parts and outside services to the Site. The role requires both the technical skills and strategic vision to develop excellence in the Supply Chain function.


  • Instigate a strategy that clearly articulates Supply Chain objectives and measures for performance improvement clearly aligned with Brooks Life Sciences overall business objectives
  • Develop and maintain a suitable number of qualified and commercially allied suppliers for use in various product areas
  • Establish a supplier qualification programme that drives continuous improvement and enables pro-active measurement of various performance metrics, from On-time Delivery to quality of product supplied
  • Introduce a Supplier Performance Evaluation Mechanism to enforce a performance culture with risk/reward KPI's implemented with critical suppliers
  • Observe relative marketplace activities and maintain a consistent view of Brooks Life Sciences leverage opportunities with specific commodities and product types. Conduct marketplace research consistently to ensure informed procurement decisions can be made
  • Maintain a clear focus of total cost whilst working with the finance, sales, projects and operation departments to maintain an awareness of profitability and delivery impacts
  • Introduce commercially sound pricing arrangements with key suppliers. This will enable greater communication with existing suppliers and formalise relationships to secure supply
  • Retain a clear on-time delivery focus coupled with zero defects approach to procurement
  • Effectively manage the resolution of Supply Chain specific non-conformances.  Identify consistent issues and actively implement contingency or re-direction plans
  • Assist with the overall management of inventory levels, economic order quantities and stock holding - whilst maintaining dialogue with production and finance departments to align individual or budgetary requirements
  • Support the organisations Margin Expansion objectives by working closely with Finance, Production Engineering teams and Suppliers to deliver identified programmes.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A purchasing qualification or a demonstration of working towards completion.
  • Experience of engineering/manufacturing related procurement concepts.
  • Experience of a Supervisor level running a Supply Chain team is preferred.
  • Ability to develop and implement Supply Chain theory and communication of objectives in a clear manner to the organization.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, planning and relationship management abilities.
  • Excellent team building and project management skills.
