Develops and implements quality plans, metrics, programs, and procedures necessary to ensure Brooks Semiconductor products are of the highest quality and drives a zero defect culture throughout the organization.

The product reliability, performance and quality must conform to established company, customer and regulatory requirements.

The Quality Engineering Manager will identify and coordinate cross-functional resources globally to eliminate quality discrepancies and implement long term Quality improvement plans.

Success in this role will require the ability to foster strong working relationships with department leaders throughout the organization. The Quality Engineering Manager will interfaces with Manufacturing, Engineering, Service, New Product Introduction, Customer Management, Supplier and Subcontractor Representatives to ensure product quality requirements are met and constantly improve.

This specific role will be based in Brooks’ Fremont, CA reporting to Sr. Director of Quality in Brooks’ corporate office in Chelmsford, MA.  The primary role will be ownership of quality for the Atmospheric Systems designed by Fremont Engineering team and customer quality relations for key customers globally for these products.

Position Responsibilities and Key Focus Areas 

  • Leads and coordinates cross-functional problem solving teams across sites and within the Quality Engineering team to achieve quality goals and implement robust corrective and systemic preventive actions.
  • Identifies and ensures quality requirements are met as part of new product introduction
  • Provides Quality support to Brooks Manufacturing sites and Contract Manufacturers
  • Develops, modifies, and maintains control plans and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
  • Manages failure analysis, report generation, and customer reviews
  • Leads quality meetings with site and corporate leadership.
  • Leads problem solving teams utilizing 8D methodology.
  • Manages quality data for accuracy and report generation.
  • Analyzes quality data to identify and drive improvement opportunities leading to improved product reliability
  • Leads cross-functional Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) activities to drive performance improvements.
  • Leads the design and analysis of inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
  • Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
  • Assists in the process for ensuring that corrective actions (CAPA) are completed in accordance with relevant ISO requirements (ISO 9001), Advance Problem Solving methods, and that documentation is complete and compliant with requirements.
  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
  • Conducts Data Analysis and prepares metrics detailing field product quality.
    • Collect, treat and interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques
    • Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
    • Works with staff as necessary to enhance data capture and analysis in support of internal and external quality improvement and reporting efforts as needed
    • Serves as a resource of aggregating, analyzing, and displaying statistically-oriented data
    • Functions as the Support lead role for the implementation of decision support system quality data warehouse in collaboration with colleagues in IT.
    • Gain a thorough understanding of relationships that exist among the organization’s various databases.
  • Support all company safety and quality programs and initiatives. Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, and the requirements of the department/position.
  • Education/Background/Qualifications 

  • B.S. in a technical discipline is required with at least five years of professional work experience as a Quality Manager supporting technical electro – mechanical products.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the application and appropriate use of statistical methods and tools (such as D.O.E, Hypothesis Testing, ANOVA, Gauge R&R, Statistical Process Control, Capability analyses, Weibull etc.).
  • Experience with large dataset analysis and semi- normalized database environments
  • Ability to present options and suggestions leading to business level decision making founded in sound data driven analysis
  • Proficient in using Oracle, Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab and report writing software
  • Ability to lead directly and indirectly a global team and prioritize multiple tasks on an on-going basis
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Desire to work in a fast paced environment
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% both Domestic and International
