The Production Planner schedules and plans work to meet project requirements for the manufacturing and installation of automated stores. Works with Production to understand manufacturing capacity and detailed timescales. Also works with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering teams to resolve technical issues. Coordinates and forecasts materials requirements to reduce product lead times.
Key responsibilities:
Creates and releases Work Orders, with adherence to completion dates, component and capacity availability, and any other resource issues needed to support on-time delivery to internal and external customers.
Working to plan and schedule modular sub-assemblies through MRP system to align with production needs. Management of daily requirements to create, modify, move or close work orders. Member of daily stand-up to give update, solve problems and take actions as required.
Daily management of Sales Orders for On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery updating MRP system to reflect lead-times and achievable deliveries.
Able to research and analyze root cause of late deliveries to determine corrective actions needed to drive improvement. Strategy management to monitor OTD and suggest suitable actions for metric improvement.
ECO/NPI management – review release of Engineering Change Orders and determine the impact to production. Involvement on project teams to provide planning input to structures, build sequences and best practices for New Product Introduction and new module release.
Working with Operation Management on inventory strategy and implementation. Evaluation of Plan For Every Part (PFEP) to determine Make to Order (MTO)/Make to Stock (MTS) profiles updating MRP system.
Monitor, apply judgment and react to inventory, backorder and service levels of purchased raw and manufactured finished goods to achieve customer service and business objectives.
Maintain appropriate material master data in MRP systems as necessary – Material Masters, Vendor Info Records, Min/Max levels, Min Buy, Lot Size, Lead-Time.
Support lean material flow initiatives, Support new product launches / product discontinuance programs and projects.
Communications:
Communicates with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Project Management and Inventory Management teams.
Experience /Skills required
Experience of Production Planning within a Manufacturing and Engineering environment.
Must have experience of MRP/ERP system use.
Strong Excel skills
Capable of working as part of a team.
Strong written and verbal communication.
Technically minded with an attention to detail.
Date driven.
