PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for design/development, modification and evaluation of primarily electronic parts, components or controls/integrated circuitry for hardware and/or other systems. May contribute to total system engineering, including other engineering disciplines. May be involved in all phases of design and development from initial concept to manufacturing. Conducts experimental tests on equipment and evaluates results. Develops specifications for selecting components and equipment to use. May also review vendors’ abilities to support development. Depending on level, may function as a project engineer/leader with the resident responsibilities of proposals/project plan, schedules, work assignments, prime contact, technical presentations, cross functional issue resolution, etc. Is expected to keep up to date on technical advances in the discipline and related fields.
ENTRY LEVEL:
Work is closely supervised by manager or more senior staff. Work assignments encompass a well-defined set of tasks requiring fundamental principles, theories and concepts. May be assigned to participate in projects. Utilizes learned principles, theories, concepts, and techniques. Follows standard practices and procedures. Emphasis is on learning company processes and nuances related to the job. Provides resolution to a variety of basic problems. Follows established practices with limitations in using judgment outside of those practices. Work is reviewed frequently. Contacts are typically with direct supervisor and other members of the team. Failure to successfully accomplish tasks can normally be corrected without significant impact. Bachelor’s degree with 0-2 year’s experience, or its equivalent.
